Zachary Laplant a 19 year old from Manchester, Connecticut has always dreamed of becoming a technical producer for a big time news agency. Laplant a communication major with a minor in digital media design found the club ETV (Eastern Television) to be a great environment to practice his passion. Laplant was no stranger to broadcast media before Eastern, for he was previously an active member of Manchester High School’s television production.
Aside from ETV, Laplant enjoys to stay active by participating in intramural basketball. A sport he has loved and been dedicated to since the young age of 10 years old. Outside of school, he spends his time helping the community as a volunteer fire fighter for Columbia, CT. Laplant shared, “Although I don’t see myself becoming a firefighter, It makes me feel good to be able to give back, I feel fortunate just being able to help out.”
Without Eastern upperclassman and Manchester High alumni Tyler Madden, Laplant may have never been able to bestow and share his talents with the university. Before choosing where he wanted to go Laplant had multiple other colleges in mind. Madden once an active member of Manchester’s TV Production came back to share his theory. Madden believed that the proficient peers of Manchester High School like Zachary Laplant had a lot to offer Eastern’s enriched community. That if students of Manchester’s television production decided to go to Eastern they could create something great and evolve the scene of ETV.
Having a devotion to broadcast media, Laplant was persuaded and sold on the possibilities Eastern’s great communication program had to offer. Laplant now gets to exercise his creative talents every Thursday at 7pm during ETV’s live show. He couldn’t be any happier with the college he chose to showcase and leave his legacy at.
